About Yoav Factor

A fully trained BECTU Film and TV Production Manager, Yoav studied ‘Production’ at the Northern Film School. His graduation film went onto international festival success with a Jury Special Mention at the Cannes Film Festival. and a BAFTA Nomination in 2002.

Whilst fulfilling all of his producing responsibilities Yoav also produced and directed three short films and produced and directed four for the Kodak Eastman Student Commercials competition, which garnered Four national awards. The three shorts directed by Yoav demonstrated his broad range and ambition with a black and white noirish silent suspense/murder/thriller, a period drama comedy funded by Yorkshire Arts and comedy sci-fi horror. The quality of this work led to agency representation as a writer/director of commercials and music video spots for former Working Title (producer of “Four Weddings and a Funeral”, “Notting Hill” and Bridget Jones Diary”) producer Will Jeffries, at Maverick Media, and Channel Four recommended production company Chris Horton Films.

In his capacity as a producer Yoav was then selected to attend a master-class on producing a low budget, under £1m, UK film, taught by Director Ken Russell’s Producer Sally Hibbin, at the prestigious world renowned National Film & TV School in Beaconsfield.

Alongside working up through the film, TV and commercials industry from a runner to producer/director Yoav has been developing an interesting slate of film projects of which “Re-Uniting The Rubins” was the first to be put into production and was released in the UK cinematically in Octobre 2011 and played out to packed screens for three weeks on a platform release.

The film is to be released in March 2012 in New York and is currently touring the US Film Festival circuit.

Based on the strength of the pitch and full package of The Rubins Film London selected Yoav as one of the top 10 UK emerging film producers in 2008, and for their elite producer training sessions tutored by Robert Jones of Material Entertainment.

The film, starring Timothy Spall, James Callis, Rhona Mitra, Honor Blackman, Blake Harrison was recently completed. Shot on location in London, Portsmouth and South Africa on 35mm the film was selected for the Breakthrough strand at LUFF 2010.

As a writer, Yoav was trained by Sue Everett at Hall Place studios. Sue worked as a screenplay consultant for Screen Yorkshire and has taught for many years at the respected Screenwriting MA at the Northern and worked for Jersey Films in LA.

Yoav came to the attention of Willy Russell, having been selected for a one week writing master-class, and was singled out by Willy for unofficial mentoring, thereafter.
